Difficulty
- Optional difficulty mode or slider which makes enemy ships more cunning, accurate, trackers.
- Ships, Stations, Planets, asteroids you destroy, mine, visit will have unforeseen consequences such as becoming a enemy with another faction of ships/system who might want to track you down to either a.) Destroy you b.) threaten you to cease your activity c.) want to steal from you d.) want to trade e.) want to ally with you. Also this could be dependent on being spied on or detected by a.) your crew b.) satellite c.) ship d.) within the planet or station
- Enemies you make can try to track you down to destroy, threaten, talk with you.
- Enemies you or other factions make could cause a blockade of trade or space boarders.
- Space Phenomena and anomalies threaten your ship under a few conditions you are a.) not equipped to deal with them b.) don't react to avoid in time c.) don't make through in time.
- Entering a significantly dense anomaly, space dust could cause a.) sensors to malfunction b.) visual disorientation c.) exposed hull and systems to degrade over time.
- Factions have their own attitude toward outsiders, territory which could cause hostility, difficulty, and ease interacting with them.
- Ability to Kamikaze into ships and objects causing significant damage.
- Ability to push/pull asteroids, comets altering trajectory to a collision with a.) another asteroid b.) comets c.) planet/moon d.) space station. This could be done with the aid of a scientific ship and extraordinary effort on the players part such as a.) explosives b.) grappling onto movable with a few ships object c.) tractor beam d.) collision with a ship while it self destructs e.) diversion or spatial anomaly
- Collision of asteroids/planets which cause partially or complete destruction causes debris and dense space dust to form
- Destroyed ships cause ship debris to float which can be salvaged and sometimes radiation to be present around a.) engines b.) weapons c.) cargo depending on what was in it d.) other radioactive parts.
- Ability to inflict friendly fire.
- @seamless landing into planets here is my take:
- Ability to experience combat within atmospheres and firing into atmospheres at ships, cities.
- Possible advantage in combat
- Tactical choice of entering atmosphere could a.) Limit speed by risk of damaging ship b.) Some atmospheres disrupt targeting & sensors c.) Gas giants could have valuable resources only specialized ships could reach in one piece d.) Heat from reentry could be a issue requiring proper decent to take no damage e.) Siege planets which could open diplomatic options and ultimatums.
- View the scenery within the atmosphere
- Gather, scan, steal resources from the planet directly through a.) transporters b.) direct landing to take c.) grappling onto cargo d.)setting up autonomous miners.
- Launch probes into planet/gas giants to scan for valuables and tactical data.
- @Pirating from gameplay forums a shortened take.
- A forceful boarding such as a surprise attack by impaling a specialized troop ship into the hull of your target ship
Once aboard your boarding party has a chance of success depending on the a.) skill and if caught by surprise b.) Targeted system to control such as the bridge, engineering, life support c.) hostile crew skill and numbers d.) Actual overall progress inside ship and damage inflicted outside the ship by your vessel. - Methods of boarding could be a.) Direct collision b.) Grappling on with "drill" ship to cut the hull. c.) flying in cargo bay, hatch, and hull breach.
- If successful a.)Terms of surrender could be negotiated b.)kill the survivors c.) let some take escape pods. d.) if all fails and you only have a key system a ultimatum of control or death can be issued.
- Saving a ship under pirate attack by boarding their ship could gain you an ally either the pirates or saved ship depending on what you do or give you a chance to betray both of them.
- All of these boarding options are issued from your communications system and by attacking/defending the ship/pirate with yours
- @The UI
- Hot keys could also allow a optional simplification and game style choice as i enjoy mapping everything.
- Key bindings up to a Key combination complexity such as Ctrl+shift+alt+1, Alt+shift+ctrl+1 should be allowed for anything action oriented such as UI, Fleet commands, ship builder tools, menu buttons, etc.
- Using the bindings in combat would be as simple as creating a group such as in RTS Ctrl+# and picking a target then hit your key instead of bringing up the whole option wheel.
- Gravity or at least orbiting planets around the sun along with comets, moons etc.
edit: i thought i should centralize my suggestions from other threads i commented on as to be more effective.
Im sure to have more ideas later but for now here they are. Have fun Josh i am looking forward to playing the game!
