Yeah a bit of a mouthful!
I was looking around here and in the 'Technical' thread for something like this, and as i saw just individual threads about certain subjects, i thought it might be nice to have a catch all thread for us to post interesting links that could have an impact of some of the design work Josh is doing for LT. It is as much for brain-food and wider discussion as anything
So here are a couple of links to consider:
http://www.gizmag.com/warp-drive-bubble ... lar/24392/
I posted this on the Elite: Dangerous site as well, as i know there is some discussion over the relative merits of what kind of system to use if not the 'Star Dreamer' (where time is speed up for the whole universe!) system that was used in Elite 2+3 for in-system travel. And related to all this a number of wiki links to various subjects:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Interplanetary_spaceflight
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Planetary_habitability
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stellar_classification
I also have a link to the original work that David Braben did in trying to work out a method to create the galaxies he managed in Elite 2+3:
http://www.jongware.com/galaxy1.html
And as i have no idea on the exact deatils of that quite indepth topic (!) i thought it might be handy for Josh to read over
