AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!

The hell is going on with my browser, it's literally full of sh**! Every single thing I open in literally any browser, all kinds of fubar commercials pop up all over the place. Been trying with different software to eradicate this infestation, but nooooo, they're still here killin' me big time.

Any good program you folks use?

And let me emphasize one more time:

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGHHHHHHHHHHHH!

you should try to run a virus/adware scan

my younger brother lately had an AdWare /virus named something with blabla-jump.
googled the name, downloaded a tool 2 mins later everything was fine again.

im at work and cannot link to download pages, search for "AdwCleaner", was the same tool i used.

maybe boot up one of those virus-scan linux distris up and let your computer scan from some non-infected third party OS

By this point, it might be easier to reformat and reinstall.

I usually use a free app called TimeFreeze that allows all changes to the OS to be dropped at reboot. It can run automatically when you turn on your machine and you could always use the option "Commit changes to disk" before a reboot if you know you're safe.

Outside of completely prevention, I have never been able to 100% fix infections. There's always some weird hint or naggle that sticks around.

Welcome to the forums.

Huh, I don't have antivirus (uninstalled it) and I don't have a firewall (disabled it)... I've had a few viruses and bits of adware, but I know how to go into the registry and browsers and clean them out. :\ Biggest thing I had to fight was a rootkit - that thing was a monster, and I just barely managed to figure it out - had to remove it manually, which was a pain. I've always managed to get viruses and adware cleaned out though, and I've only had to take care of a handful of viruses. Maybe I'm just lucky. I'm going to be in for it one of these days, right?

a firewall and a antivir make less hassle than to remove everything manually, and they may find things you dont see....

I started using some kind of antivirus when I got one that infected all the .exe files on my pc. You could not start those .exe's any longer. Imagine the error horrors.

I've never found one I liked. I used to use AVG, but kept disabling it. I got sick of it pulling down my limited processor power, and it never found any viruses anyway. Every now and then I turn on the default Windows stuff and let it do a sweep, and while it occasionally catches something, it's not often.

If you are halfway decent at looking at a registry and keep your important files in a safe manner there's no good reason to use more than the security essentials.
Your chance of getting a virus is almost exactly proportionate to your rate of risky behaviour, use a sandbox or vm if something is scary, or if you have an SSD you might not even bother worrying since a OS reinstall is 10 minutes away if it's out of control.

I've lost more important data and time (especially in system drag) to anti-virus software than I've lost to viruses.
woops, my bad, everything & anything actually means specific and conformed

I know my way around the registry, and know where not to go poking around, too. My "rate of risky behavior" is very low - I rarely download anything at all, rarely go to any sites I don't trust, etc.

I actually almost had to reinstall Windows 7 on my old laptop because of a free trial of AVG's registry cleaner that decided to activate itself. -.- So, yeah, I've had some bad experiences with "system protection" software. My current laptop freezes up when something's bogging down the hard drive (not a virus, it's a hardware defection that was present when I got the thing), and AVG made my laptop freeze constantly. Glad I got rid of it, actually, and the default Windows Defender stuff works just fine.

This.

I think a lot of antivirus programs are lot worse than the virus themselves in terms of day-to-day performance. Norton was the worst, at least for me. Of course, there are nasty virus out there, but...
norton is also from my experience the worst thing possible...

my mom bought a completely assembled PC for herself, including OS and a installed bloatware version of norton.

the only way to remove it was to use a clean windows install instead of the preinstalled windows....
