What, bad bedroom barter? or sneaky Spoon sentry?
I assume 'getting to keep your weapons on the ship', as we're not as prisonery as we were on Tartarus.
ah, so sneaky Spoon sentry, then :V
I am Groot.
Please don't take my advice. You will wind up in jail if you do.

Bro, do you even CDE?
One of the common gunship designs relies on weapons on one side, radiators on the opposite side, and a flat nose.
You keep yourself broadside oriented, your engines are always in a useful direction for dodging, and you can save on mass by having thick armor on the one side, and none on the other.

You might expect some PD on the other sides, but guns only on the top is fine.

and CoaDE has slow relative maneuvering and no FTL'ing in on enemies.
REKT ships can close the gaps fast and maneuver fast relative to their weapon ranges, CoaDE ships not.

when an enemy formation can be around you instead of 100km from you in a dense cluster it matters that you can fire in all directions, same with you doing fast maneuvers.
when its worth for you to do major course changes during combat its also nice to have turrets on all sides so your maneuverability isnt constrained by your turret arcs.

Fair point, but that only matters for small, fast strikecraft, like fighters/bombers.
Because the gunship should be more maneuverable than anything else it will tend to engage. And fighters are primarily taken care of by fighter escorts or point defense.

not really the way the battles we saw in canon REKT happened, though.
relatively close ranges, relatively fast movement but relatively low rotational rates.
switching between frontal and broadside happened pretty fast, at least faster than the observed turn rates.

the nemesis also isnt a gunboat, its a strike/support carrier. nothing that screams "maneuverable"

Assault support carrier first, self-contained vessel for recon in potentially dangerous areas second, with the ability to carry out missions if necessary. You could also think of it as a REKT platform, seeing as carrying CASKETs (and other, slightly-larger ships) is what it's built around (see: large hangar), which is also part of why it's out in the middle of nowhere. Maneuverability is a plus; it needs to be able to handle itself without support of its own. A dedicated gunship more or less requires support/cover fire because it's big, bulky, and can't maneuver well. The Nemesis can't afford to be that awkward and clumsy, which is why it is not "bristling with guns".

So wednesday I'm going on vacation until the 26th. It's unlikely that I'll be able to post in that period.
So if the main mission would happen to start in that period, I suggest that Bob keeps following Saoirse & try to protect her. If more difficult or complex situations would arise, Dinosawer can take control of him to resolve them if he wants to.
For the nemesis thread, just keep following Saoirse and bob introduces himself by saying "Meh Bob", or if it's easier for tal, just let him sleep in his bunk with jimmy until I'm back or the mission starts.
