Re: Pipelines and Resource Allocation
This is like the transformation to Tekkit from Minecraft.
Cornflakes_91 wrote:i've lately thought in the X:Rebirth esque cargo drones thread that there is a need for handing of the micromanagement in transferring large batches of cargo between entities which are not repeated.
for example a big purchase from an NPC station, or a transfer from a player station to the players capital ship.
from the current knowledge there would be 3 possibillities:the first method is possibly not always available due to size restrictions, you might not dock the LT equivalent to an terrestiral container freighter to a small listening post, and the second method seems quite burdensome and unreliable to me if all you want is a quick cargo transfer.
- docking the 2 entities and transfer the cargo directly
- make a contract to have your wares transferred
- micromanage your smaller freighters to carry the cargo to your ship
so i propose now an addition to the pipeline system to make the third option much easier to handle
...
i think pipelines can now cater for any kind of ware transfer

Well, for me they are tools too - i was talking how to integrate them.Cornflakes_91 wrote:Most of the NPC's, the workers, are already limited in intelligence and that they themself arent a part of the economy, in a sense that they dont get money by themself and thus cant buy anything by themself.
They are subordinates of their executive NPC's, which run the full AI routines and fully think for themself, make money and spend money.
Drones should and will just be tools.
Tools without any AI besides pathfinding +what is needed for ther immediate purpose which are under direct control from the NPC which mans their mothership.
So drones would not need any incentive to redock besides "boss said so"
Certainly they also wont have any parts that can be swapped after they are built, thats what ships are for.
yep, reasonable. I'll second that.Cornflakes_91 wrote:But this will not apply magically but if you want better drones you have to build them.
Sell them?N-Joy wrote:yep, reasonable. I'll second that.Cornflakes_91 wrote:But this will not apply magically but if you want better drones you have to build them.
Off-topic question: How do i get rid of old modules/drones/ships? Scrap them or upgrade them in a Factory/Dock (like in Ascendancy) to new researched tech?
