I love how the pronouncing of an image format evokes such strong emotions

Had to use phonetic spelling since afaik [x] and [ɣ] don't exist in English and [eː] doesn't occur as standalone letter

I'm persuaded that, as with most holy wars, it's not the thing itself, but the condescending
attitude with which the thing is stated -- as though some invented human belief system is unequivocal Truth, and anyone who disagrees is obviously a benighted fool who deserves mockery.
That kind of 'tude just invites ever-more-heated responses.

There's only two hard things in computing - when to clear the cache, and naming things.
Both lead to religious wars a dozen times more intense than the Crusades.

I don't know if you came up with that yourself or it's something I ought to have already heard of, but it's brilliant and I love it.

I've heard it as "there are two hard problems in computer science: cache concurrency, naming things, and off-by-one errors."

Ha! I haven't heard that variant, Grumble, but I like it!
As you might have seen, Tal, that saying is far older even than I, which is saying something.
