" When I said splitting up, I meant moving alongside but with slightly different objectives.

I think having a general outline now is better then going in with no plan at all and arguing over where to go there.

I am sure we can outfit at least two people with stealth fields. Combined with the dust, they should be hard to spot.

I did not know about the tank CASKETS. Those will have to stay back until we know there is not powerful anti-surface guns out there. We don't want to loose our edge with those. "

Listen to what everybody is saying.

"Trigger, an enveloping attack against an enemy of unknown capabilities, unknown numbers, and unknown strength is stupid. Not going to happen. Any de-attachment for flanking I'll be willing to make will be after we have the data on our enemy.

Dino, how about sending Francis towards position 1 right at the beginning? He has an enhanced camera and might be able to get some initial data, and he has the best chance to outrun any potential enemy.

The rest of us shall proceed towards Position 2, but since many of us will be on foot it'll slow us down, giving Francis the time he needs to get there, make a scan, and get back.

I'd advise a short recon at the 'dome' crossing - sending in the drones first to see if it triggers anything."

Go find Clara, and speak to her, preferably out of Kalla's earshot.

"Clara, it was really sad to see you taken away. We all will miss your knowledge and your support...please be careful. Squad 3 is always there to help you if you need it, though. Don't hesitate to ask for help.

By the way, do you have any sound ideas about what we are dealing with on this mission?

Firstly, we don't know if there WERE any AA weapons on the planet.
Secondly, they were already attacked, so if there infantry on that planet as you seem to suggest, they surely would have shored up their defenses knowing that someone wanted to get in.
And finally, this looks a lot like the same forces from this platoon's first mission - at least from what I've read and heard."

"Trigger, I agree with the other here, it's silly to make tactics based on unbased assumptions.
If this is Quantum technology we're up against, and that is just a guess, they might not have any fixed defenses at all - in Chilendorn they mostly relied on agile, fragile drones with a ton of firepower. Except for the Worldship Destroyers, of course, but I'm pretty sure the satellite would pick up a 300 m anti aircraft gun.
Of course, I'm sure they'll have some more tricks for us - the defenders might not even be Quantum. Maybe something else found this place first and wants to defend its find, or maybe they have other tech, we just don't know."
(( but I'm fairly sure Tal will give us some surprises or he wouldn't have let me put stats for the Quantum drones on the wiki :ghost: ))
"Foreigner, I'll ask him, but he can be a bit fickle at times."
(( and Duck is currently MIA ))
Warning: do not ask about physics unless you really want to know about physics.

I think our first course of action should be to probe the dome. The previous platoon only seems to have met hostiles once they breached the dome.
I propose that we first scan the dome from the outside and then proceed to do some experimentation like throwing heated rocks inside it to see if we can trigger a reaction.
If we can figure out what is inside the dome before we breach it, we'll have a serious advantage compared to blindly going in.

Our next step should be to have a look at the crash site. Preferably taking the shortest route, so that we're not inside the dome for longer than would be needed. We have ships that can fly, terrain is not really a problem if you can fly over it.
We might be able to clear the dust by pulling it down with gravity field manipulators. Maybe also Magnetic field manipulators, although it would need to be scanned to determine if it is metallic or not.
In case it would be metallic it might even provide us with an advantage, certainly if we're up against robotic enemies, as it would allow us to create an electrostatic discharge in it with weapons like the tesla arc projector.

SCAMPS, can you tell me something more about the atmosphere condition, temperature range and composition of the moon?

"I think I can accommodate that Blake. I'll attach William and Nequeba as your ground support, then. A soldier and an exotic stuff specialist seems the right kind of combination...

William, Nequeba, you've heard it. You are to get the best infantry load-outs possible and follow Blake, covering his CASKET from any portable anti-ship weaponry enemy might have, and provide any other ground support he might need."

"Doctor Cha0zz, that's basically my proposition. Observe it, probe it - maybe with drones - then go in. Otherwise we'll meet the same fate as the previous squad.

I have a suspicion that those 'domes' react to fast-moving airborne targets, but it's just a suspicion. We need to know for sure."

((Hey Vector67, if you are unsure what to get or what to do there is this thread for it. Also, check out the squad rules. All the game rules, stuff and such are on the wiki.

It might be quite overwhelming, so if you feel lost just tell me how you want to play the game and what stuff you want to do, and I'll help you with the load-out.))

"Perhaps. If the weaponry fire only while inside the dome, we may be able to test its reaction to different stimuli. As well as that, if the planet is hot, it is unlikely to use thermal imaging, and if the planet has very high winds, I doubt it's motion detection of any sort."

Listens intently

"Hmm...SCAMPS, you guys surely make some scans of the CASKETS after each mission, do you? In case someone brings anomalous stuff home or something...Anyway, can you load the last scans of the wrecked CASKET down there onto our PDA? I'd like to scan the wrecks first in case something dangerous built a nest in there."
Apparently, sometimes stuff might happen.

"We don't know anything. Thats the point.

When we get down there we need to very quickly and quietly see what's what. Thats why I think we need several stealth people to go and look ahead at whats around there.

The other alternative is using Dino's black magic wizardry to scout what is ahead. However, as we do not very well know how that stuff works, and we risk loosing Dino. Therefore, my stealth suggestion."
