Re: Aliens
*) depends.
it really depends on the setting of the series, and what the feeling is.
in firefly aliens would probably look very wrong and feel displaced (excluding looks-suspiciously-like-a-human aliens)
but in the multi-cultural universe of, for example, star wars, aliens are perfectly fine.

Re: Aliens
Oh I agree, I was just curious if people have any preference, because even down to something like alien nation (the movie) if it fits it works better. I personally feel more of my favorite things are humans as aliens, but I prefer the idea of sci fi space with aliens involved.

Humans, Calamarians, Rodaninans, Tardarians, Vulcans, and of course the Martians.
Humans and Aliens living in harmony forever!

Re: Aliens
Rubber mask aliens like in Star Trek? Sure, if you're working on a TV series budget.
Otherwise, alien aliens, please.

There is no "I" in Tea. That would be gross.

Re: Aliens
Well, deep characterized humanoid aliens are the best option to emphatize with them as friends or foes. Buth spicing the mixtures with a couple trully strange alien races makes things more believable.

Re: Aliens
Star wars had rubber mask aliens, but they were explained away as aliens created by other humanoid aliens. At least in the non-canon series like SWTOR. Either way, I like both... look how Warframe did them: We have Corpus, Grineer and Tenno as human descendents and then the infested/ancients as aliens or messed up experiments.
If you want aliens, they'll have to be procedurally generated to truly fit with the rest of the game. They'll have to come with the planetary exploration add-on and mods.

We noticed that this thread got a little side-tracked into a conversation about eating spaghetti with a spoon. We do enjoy our fair share of italian food, but please remember to keep discussion on-topic when posting on the forums.

Re: Aliens
Oh, and alien aliens like Gazz has said. Unfriendly aliens at that, I've read The Killing Star.

I quite like the Aliens like in ender's game.

Re: Aliens
does it realy matter?
we can have aliens or other human cultures, but all their ships will look different and thats whats important.

More people want exploding kittens than exploding ships. Somehow, this makes me happy.

Re: Aliens
Depends on the setting.
I like really alien aliens - starfish aliens, that is.
For LT....well....a mixture of procedurally generated creatures ranging from fairly standard human-derived species and going all the way into Eldritch Abomination.
Because, FUN.
