I could make a new poll. I never really liked how the ages in this one were laid out so much, but I don't think there's any way I could arrange them where I actually would like it, either. :lol:
AT least it could be made permanent.
I have a bad news: you will not stay 21 forever. Neither did I. Long ago.

I have a good new, though: I will never have been born before 1973. Even in two years.

So a good poll is:
* Born before Nosferatu (1922)
* Born before Frankenstein (1931)
* Born before Citizen Kane (1941) -- (No SF film I know in the 40s :( )
* Born before The war of the worlds (original, 1953)
* Born before 2001 (1968)
* Born before Star Wars: A new hope (1977)
* Born before Blade Runner (1982)
* Born before Terminator 2 (1991)
* Born before Minority Report (2002)
* Born after Avatar (2009)

What you think? And yes. I am older than Star Wars!

[Edit] and we are not interested in the opinion of people born between 2002 and 2009 :D [/edit]

Ah, yes, that's a smart way to do it. Now to come up with some way to space them out uniformly... :think:

I feel like I've been here a lifetime!
<chortles> Five years! Ho-hum!
At least this hasn't been the worst year of the five years, Cody. ;) :angel:

There's gotta be a Flash Gordon movie from the 40s, surely?
The idea is good - just needs a little tweaking, perhaps.

Well, the two big "unregularity" are 2001 and Star wars, for obvious reasons as the best films ever.
Can be fixed easily by replacing 2001 with King Kong vs Godzilla (1961) and Star wars with A clockwork Orange (1971). While I could live with the latter, the former change is hard to accept :-P

1961 - Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea, perhaps? [ping] <grins>

Hmmm.

1927 - Metropolis
1956 - Forbidden Planet

Mighty Joe Young was 1949, but I'm not sure I'd call that science fiction.

Alternately, why not avoid subjectivity and just do decadal age bands? 0-10, 11-20, 21-30, etc.

Well, the whole aim was not to be subjective in the slices, but to be forever accurate.
1 year after the poll, 10% of the people in one band will go in another. So statistically, decadal bands have 10% mistake per year.
Using absolute dates is forever accurate. Using movies instead of dates is simply for fun, and who cares if a category is a bit longer or shorter....

There is another option: editing the poll every year to new categories.
0-10 becomes 1-11
11-20 becomes 12-31
...
Manual work, but guarenteed accurate ;-)... if nobody adds his name to the list during 365 days.
And the kids <1 can not yet type, so cannot complain :twisted:, we are good for a few years.

not that we care, actually :mrgreen:

You're right.

The only problem with this is that when you edit a poll it resets the votes. So the idea of doing it based on years is probably the best way to do it. I like the movie landmark ideas.
