I suggest that each month you could also have an "art style bonus prize" based around one particular style of entry.
For example, one month you could say the featured art style of the month will be "text-based entries", with a prize going to the best text-based entry of the month that hasn't already received a prize in the overall judging.
This would encourage text-based entries, without taking potential prizes away from submissions in various other art styles (which is not to say that the top "X" prize-winning entries cannot also be text-based, if they are judged the best, resulting in X+1 prizes being awarded to text-based entries).
You could then do the same thing in subsequent months, each having its own signature "bonus art style" including paintings/drawings, 3D-rendered art, music/audio, etc, etc.
This also gives the potential to mix and match the theme of the competition with the suggested art style - resulting in pictures of explosions, or audio with an exploration theme, or stories about creation, etc.
