Heh, my AMD is pretty cheap. I've encountered a few things that it ran, but incorrectly - i.e. hardware-induced glitches particular to AMD.

Yah, I tried AMD once, and found it to be great.
Then I switched back to Intel and I've never looked back.
Granted, they are more expensive (especially the top end), but the old adage always rings true;
you get what you pay for

For me, it has always been based on what I need it for.

If I want to build a mini cluster, I'm going to be using AMD for cost because once you get to a certain point, it's more cost effective per FLOPS. When I helped a friend spec out a render farm, we used Intel because the software he had took more advantage of the instruction set.

Each has their place.

The good old "Thuban" aka Phenom II X6?
IMHO the last halfway competitive AMD CPU before they made the mistake of releasing Bulldozer. I hope they catch up again, if only to light a fire under Intel .
