Ship model concepts

#1
So given the new super cool mesh tech we got, I thought it might be fun to post some concepts of different ships, if for nothing more than to get the dev team's creative juices flowing for the sort of variability I personally think is necessary to make the infinite be more interesting for longer.

Edit: Apparently it wasn't super clear, but the thread is mainly just to get the juices flowing for what different geometries and arrangements, levels of sharp vs smooth transitional shapes, boxy vs organic, and so on that models and other things in the game should have.

Wow. Some of those are flippin' gorgeous. I especially like the more oddball designs, rather than iterations on "boxes in space."

Now let me offer some more "boxes in space" designs. :D I do quite like these.

These are concepts from Traveller:

And some designs from John Eaves for a previous iteration of what would become Star Trek Online (slow browsers beware!):

Victor is stealing my words again :ghost: ;)

Well I'd like to aggregate all the images in this one thread, so I'm gonna grab some of those images from your links :)

AAAANDD I think I got a little carried away, there are ~450 images in this post, I divided them into 4 so your slow internets wont totally hate me :shifty: :monkey:

Awesome, HowSerendipitous! I've just started watching Babylon 5 again.
Me too  , great minds think alike... Well, I say just started, I'm already almost at the end of series 2. Hoping to get through The Long, Twilight Struggle tonight... That's such a good episode!
:D I've literally just started again, HowSerendipitous, coming off the back of a re-watch of Firefly and Serenity. I've never watched Babylon 5 in the suggested chronological order which includes all the movies, Legend of the Rangers, Crusade, and The Lost Tales. I've only got as far as a few episodes into series /season one after watching the pilot movie (The Gathering). There are many superb episodes to look forward to, my squirrel friend, but Sleeping In Light will always be my favourite.

I've got a long way to go.

Edit: I should add that this is a great idea for a thread, Hyperion. Josh needs all the help he can get in this department.
