The warp rails reminds me a lot of an "old" comic I used to read. Don't know if it made it outside France though. It was called "Yoko Tsuno". In those comics, some people had a very advenced technology and used magnetic/energy fields like rails. But a picture is worth thousands of words :

Hrmmmm. I agree with the above poster. I like tunnels a bit better than rails. The tethering just seems less cool to me than warp lanes. I like the idea of being more enclosed in the warp lane. And to break out of it would be a bit more catastrophic/bad/less easily done than just de-tethering. Those are just my thoughts.

For some reason I feel like the concept of warp rails is the most interesting thing I've seen show up in the dev logs, which is a stretch because everything that shows up in the dev logs is already amazing.

I thought I'd come out of hiding to say that, since my mind has been blown.

Warp Rail - I like it.
