The WolfStar Chronicles: Chapter 2

We rejoin WSR as CMDR GoatChops is in hyperspace back toward Wolf 906. After the events of our previous adventure CMDRs GoatChops and Silverware were forced to cool their jets over in Wolf 896 (again) whilst the misunderstanding with the Feds cleared up (again). GoatChops - ready to sortie for some credits was hoping to start the day with an easy escort mission or two before sinking his teeth into something a bit tougher. Preferably with a good wingman along for safety. Unfortunately the only available wingman in the cluster was Silverware09 (Seriously recruitment is open :P) . Sighing to himself GoatChops opened up his comms link:

Silverware: (Over brightly) Hey dude, how are you?
GoatChops: (with suspicion) What have you done?
Silverware: (barely suppressed laughter) I kinda maybe blew up Cornflakes
GoatChops: (amused)... How...
Silverware: (more barely suppressed laughter) Some fancy piloting, some explosions happened, I think its best if he describes it honestly

Note: The WolfStar Raiders would like to point out that the attitudes displayed by both Silverware and GoatChops is not in keeping with The WSR values of loyalty and respect toward fellow WSR members. Unfortunately it is very much in keeping with the general mind set and skill level of the WSR rank and file.

GoatChops: (snickering) Okay, I am short a few credits and am keen for some work.
Silverware: (outright laughter) Funny you should say that because I have just picked up a random signal - looks like a wreck, shell we?

Reunited and in wing together GoatChops and Silverware set off toward a strong signal source out in the middle of Wolf 906. Dropping from super cruise they set about investigating the wreckage only to find it mostly intact with the cargo floating unclaimed around it. This was despite the wreck showing clear signs of battle damage:

GoatChops: This is odd
Silverware: 2x Sensor readings, known pirates - THEY ARE IN LIGHT FRIGATES! (Anacondas)
GoatChops: Ambush!

Within seconds CMDR GoatChops found his ship (that was dead in space so he could investigate the wreck) targeted by both pirates, and nearly blown out from under him (24% hull left)! Silencing his alarms and putting full power to engines he boosted away just in time to avoid 2 plasma bolts (I kid you not, they must melted the paint on the way past).

CMDR Silverware, with a cry of "Tally ho!" and what can only be described as manic laughter, floored it toward the pirates and hooked in behind them while they chased GoatChops. Thus began 5 minutes of the most intense dog fight CMDRs GoatChops and Silverware have been in together. 5 minutes which I will now attempt to render onto you in point form:

- Silverware hooked in behind the Anaconda's and started targeting their drive systems
- Meanwhile GoatChops played a dicey game of cat and mouse, trying to stay close enough to keep the Anacondas interested in killing him, but not so close they could actually kill him
- The Feds dropped into the fight and upon seeing Pirates vs The WolfStar Raiders ("Is there a difference?" - On site Federal Force Commander) contented themselves with securing the wreckage
- The Feds crack open beers (we assume) and start laying bets on which WSR pilot will blow up first
- GoatChops ask what the odds are, the Feds don't respond
- Silverware successfully disables the drive unit of one of the Anacondas, both Anaconda's target him in response
- Silverware ask what the odds are now, the feds still don't respond
- Silverware becomes the mouse while GoatChops turns in and targets the power plant of the disabled Anaconda successfully causing it to explode due to damage.
- Not wanting to be shown up by WSR the Feds close betting and move in to finish off the second Anaconda
- GoatChops and Silverware quit the field 200k richer each.

After repairing, rearming and (most importantly) turning in their bounty vouchers, CDMRs Silverware and GoatChops headed back out, proud citizens of Wolf 906 and prouder still of their status as WolfStar Raiders!

We actually got up to a heap more then what I have written here, so much so it was hard to choose what to write about! I hope you enjoyed this write up and I hope you see you in space with us.

Cornflakes: eh... yeah... i accidentally gone into silent running which lowered my shields.
And then silver crashed into me with his fully charged shields. >.>
His shields didnt stay charged for long, though.
As the coriolis starport from where we both started moments prior took silvers accident as assasination and shot him down in a moments notice.
So due to me hitting silent running and silver not being able to avoid crashing into me we both lost our ships...

Hey GoatChops, as I mentioned in PM, I'm reporting for duty.

I've no idea how far I am from Wolf 906 (I'll edit the distance later), but I'm running a mostly A-specced Cobra whose only flaw is underpowered burst lasers and overly expensive and underly accurate missle launchers...so I should fit right in.

I've got an errand to run before I can head over to assist you in what I'm calling your PP-NOTA campaign (Power Play - None Of The Above). I pledge myself to none of the cardboard characters that have been presented for our 'choice' (HAH!!), instead I plan to un-play the game.

Given our time zone differences I don't know if I will ever meet up with my fellow raiders (and I'm online infrequently), but I'm happy to contribute to the general havoc.

For any other raiders, look out for Cmdr Bugbear.

Oh man goatchops, sounds like so much fun. I hope I can make it to meet up with you guys one night/day/evening/whatever (man, those timezones!! :cry: )

So - in case you are still taking in more pilots, you can put me on the roster :)

I already hooked up with cornflakes ingame for tuesday night (CET=UTC+1) and sent an unsolicited friendrequest to bugbear (sry 'bout that, but you sounded like you needed it ;) )

So - in case my hotel's wifi can handle the bandwidth and anybody else wants some npc-blasting fun, join us around wolf 906 on tuesday night ...

Edit: typos
My friend you have been entered into the ranks of WSR - Don't be alarmed if simple task such as docking or avoiding entering silent mode suddenly become unreasonably hard to achieve :P

I've been flying along for a while, but it's time to officially enlist me into the glorious ranks of the Wolfstar Raiders! I'm enormously qualified and a perfect fit for the role! My qualifications and achievements include:

- drunk flying (always);
- trying to use cargo scoop instead of the fuel scoop;
- mapping 'fire the big-arse gun' button to 'thrust forward' in landing mode, resulting in me forgetting to deploy landing gear and firing point-blank at the station;
- collecting a Federation-wide fine of about 100 credits in a system 40 ly away from Wolf 906, and having to go all the way back to pay it;
- speed-docking (always);

Also, I'm a direct beneficiary of new equality laws; you have to accept me even if you don't want to!!! My disabilities include:

- inability to aim;
- trouble figuring out 2D movement, such as browsing menus;
- disability to indicate directions different from 'over here' and 'over there';
- propensity to being rammed by Fed's Anacondas for no goddamn reason;

I have several bad habits, such as:

- abuse of alcohol (duh!);
- abuse of ship's thermal management for getting additions to my collection of sentient snowflakes;
- abuse of Flight Assist Off mode;

But well, everyone has their little dirty secrets I suppose.

So, let's fly out together and enjoy friend activities such as murder, destruction and pillage! Yay!
