Prismata is a turn-based card game that I would describe as playing a lot like a turn-based starcraft. It's a game of perfect information, no randomness, etc, so both players know what the other is planning at all times. It's currently in closed alpha, but I have some keys lying around and they typically give a lot out during streams and on their reddit site. (They have a deal where any MSPaint fanart posted to reddit (r/prismata) will be given a key.)

They recently posted an article to Gamasutra on the insanely complex process of choosing the name "Prismata" for their game.

Worth a read if you really like seeing how the sausage is made in developing computer games.
