Sadly, my Skyrim SE seems to be broken now.
Yes, I understand your sadness, Flat. :(

I finally gave up on updating my game and prevented Steam from undertaking such unnecessary changes. Once I was happy with the content of my game, as far as mods were concerned, I froze the operation. Steam continues to state, in my games list, that my game requires updating but I ignore it. :) I've never used Steam for mods preferring to go to the Nexus directly so I've had no problems there either. I continue to use the last stable version of SKSE and, up to now, have experienced no crashes.

To tell you the truth, since the addition of the G-SYNC monitor, I'm so happy with the look and content of this massively modded game there isn't much I want to add or change.

A G-SYNC monitor is probably the next thing on my list of ongoing hardware improvements.

I've had my Samsung SyncMaster 245BW for something like 9 years now, which is a pretty good run. I'm now looking at the shiny new crop, but I'm still holding off until the introduction of a few HDR10+ monitors; that actually looks like a useful feature. (They need G-SYNC as well, since I use Nvidia cards.)

In the meantime, maybe I can find some way to persuade Skyrim to run again, and then take your very good advice and disable automatic updates! (I've got automatic updates turned off already for quite a few games; this would just be one more.)

Oh-ho! Nice find, Cornflakes -- thanks for the pointer.

It looks like this won't work for me as I'm currently running two GTX 980 Ti cards in SLI, so apparently that's not burly enough for Adaptive Sync. (And I'd rather not upgrade to a new graphics card juuuuust yet.)

But maybe when the right HDR10+ monitor at the right price comes along, I'll also spring for one of those snazzy ray-tracing graphics cards... by which time everyone will be laughing at my pathetically underpowered CPU. :D

It's always something....

I'm still using Intel Core i7 4790K @ 4.00GHz in my PC's, Flat. I haven't seen the need to upgrade. I tend to spend the cash where it matters so I won't be laughing at you. ;)

:shifty: Of course, if you're using AMD I might indulge in a quiet chuckle.

CPU matters surprisingly little now as more and more power is added to GPUs, compute shaders as an example, allow massively parallel work to be offloaded from the CPU.

no, just not having a displayport adapter of the version required for it. (has a dp 1.2 adapter vs the 1.2a needed, and in 1.2a its optional)
performance wise its free, as its all just in the bus not in the graphics processing

partially true. have fun feeding your compute shaders when your cpu is choking :D

which is part of the reason vulcan is cool, multithreaded GPU feeding

Skyrim Anniversary Edition

After doing some Skyrim VR recently, I think I am MOSTLY done with Skyrim. Certainly not buying it again.

Seems Anniversary Edition is based around having various mods baked in, so having it, assumingly, work better together. Though it's not exactly clear from what I can gather this is what it is exactly.

My opinion is they need to let this game go at some point, put more effort into the next Elder Scrolls and less of milking Skyrim again.

Yeah, based on their creation club crap? It's not going to work better together than normal mods.
