Over the years I have steadily gained experience in a variety of roles. I worked with a small band of soldiers that identified themselves as the =GWA=. As part of the =GWA= I participated in commando raids as part of a special operations task force. Our resources were limited as were our supplies. Over time we were requested less often and with less pay. This forced me to leave the unit and move on towards other opportunities.

After about a month of searching I found several friends who were considering creating a mechanized assault mercenary team. A group was formed with a hierarchy system and an idea that the members of the unit would assist those of lesser rank. The early days of this group were glorious; we were paid well; had a growing number of members, and strong connections with one another. Then, one day the head of this group was over thrown and there was a scheme to remove all those who founded the group from their power. This attack from within forced me and several others to retire from the group and form a unit that could not be as easily corrupted. After several months of work and editing the old unit's charter, the Wraiths of Acheron emerged from the shadows.

Wraiths of Acheron (WoA) or Acheron for short, formed to succeed where the previous unit failed; to allow its members to have a voice while being able to operate without direct overhead from its founders. Along with the changes to the unit's function the founders of the Wraiths of Acheron decided to try their luck by heading to the stars. Although the start up costs were much more expensive, the wraiths had decided that the stars promised the most stable source of income. Having re-branded, the newly formed unit took a leap of faith into the unknown.

I suppose I should mention that I have been in possession of an Aurora class fighter for almost five months now. I picked it up back on the 16th of April. The ship's weapon systems checked out and I'm currently looking for employment to get its hyper-drive up and running. Until then, the ship is grounded. Employment is pretty low in this sector with few companies willing to take on a group of ex-mercenaries. With any luck we'll get a chance to run some freight or escort missions in the near future. I still need to name my Aurora or at least give it a more common designation. I've made some logos for myself based off of some long lost idea I once had. I might put them to use once I own a Hornet that specializes in stealth. Until then I suppose the concept art will have to lay and wait.

Upon further review the name Dawn's Light seems appropriate for the ship. Since the ship can serve as either a freighter or a fighter yet lacks the maneuverability of a fighter, it seems to fit.

I've scraped together some extra cash and bought myself a simulator pod today. I can now practice flying around in a virtual copy of Dawn's Light and practice my zero gravity combat skills. I have to say, it's quite different from the atmospheric flight simulations I ran on New Kyoto. Here it's easier to get into a head on collision which can be fatal. Oh I almost forgot, a couple months back I received both of the weapons that had been missing from my ship. I'm now up to 4 guns (all of which are energy based) and four missiles (which pack quite a punch if the simulator is accurate). Unfortunately it's taking the techs a lot longer than previously expected to ship the new hyper-drive over here. The old one was in much worse condition than I had suspected, and since affordable hyper-drives dealers are few and far between it may be another six months before its even in system.

It's been almost a year since my first entry into this log. I've been spending most of my free time familiarizing myself with infantry weapons at the local gun range. I've received news that I should receive my hyper-drive 3 months from now. Vandal and pirate groups are all over the news. There seems to be some sort of treaty between the groups. In recent months the pirates have become more aggressive, attacking larger convoys and acquiring millions of dollars worth of equipment and supplies. I've been relatively lucky, the convoy which is shipping my drive has only fallen under attack a few times over the past few months and has successfully fended off the attacks.

I'm eager to get the drive installed so that I can begin scouting out regions of space to mine ore and start the business I've penciled out. Here's to hoping that my drive arrives sooner rather than later.

I finally did it, I sold the Dawn's Light. I have waited over a year for the hyper-drive to arrive. Work was getting really old and I happened to see a good deal so I jumped on it. But I'm getting a little ahead of myself. Tow weeks ago a technician came in and added a few different ships to the simulation pod. One was a different variant of the Aurora I already owned which I wasn't very interested in. The other two were different. The first was the Avenger; a beauty of a ship with a number of missiles in the wings, along with a pair of laser cannons and a Gatling gun. While the ship was able to shred those who opposed it. The Avenger's dependence on ammo based weapons was a setback but what really discouraged me from buying the craft was its inability to transport cargo. The other ship was the Mustang. A sleek, compact ship which sports two wing mounts and comes with a gimbal which carries two laser cannons by default. After flying the Mustang in the sim pod for 6 hours or more hours and decided that this ship was worth the credits since it could also haul cargo while also being able to defend itself from hostiles. So, a few days ago I sold my Aurora and used the credits to purchase the Mustang. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the Mustang came with a functioning hyper-drive. I can finally leave the hanger and start earning credits from trading and selling goods across the solar system.

I guess I forgot to update the log that my colleagues and I have decided to join up with a slightly larger group called Spaceborne. They have many of the similar beliefs and goals which we had, it's just that we were too small and we were having difficulty growing. This is no longer the case as we currently are apart of a 50 member team which will work together to further our goals. Perhaps one day we will have the trading empire which I envision.

Today I have a short story from an event that happened while I was playing Heat Signature this morning. Total mission time was 2 minutes. Enjoy!

Trapped between a rock and a hard place. Or at least that's how Henry felt as 2 guards followed after getting a glimpse of him. After running down the hallway Henery was trapped between a locked door and his target. Henry pressed his body against the wall of the hallway preparing for the worst, two seconds passed, then three, then four. Nothing. He could hear the guards talking at the far end of the hallway, both confused about what they thought they had just seen. After a moment of conversation they turned away and began their walk back to their posts.

Henry new he didn't have much time before a patrol would come by and inevitably spot him. He had to think quickly. Henry pulled out his subverter, he knew the guards were shielded so this wouldn't kill them, but with any luck, one might just step a bit closer to the locked door. Henry took a breath, calmed himself and aimed his subverter through the wall he was standing by and quickly changed the identify friend foe system of the turret the guards were all standing around. In an instant the turret opened fire, the force of the blast pushing the shielded men back six feet from their posts. The guards were shocked and paralyzed in fear. The shot guards began to panic, shocked that the turret he had been stationed by had opened fire onto him. The turret turned, and opened fire. The man standing by the door was shot several times, his shield protecting him from the deadly blasts.

It didn't take long for most of the guards to be in a panic, as Henry waited he decided to crash the shield of his target. This one he needed alive, but he had no intent on killing anyone else on this ship either.

The shields of Henry's target fell, as the other man patrolled inside a small, cargo room with a single door.

The man by the turret finally stepped into the doorway of the locked door, Henry activated his slipstream, slowing time by a factor of 5. He followed this with activating his sidewinder. In an instant he was through the door the guard had opened and in front of the locked cargo room. Two other guards were there as well, one of which was holding the key fob for the door.

In an instant Henry pulled out his key cloner, copied the key's digital signature and b-lined it for the locked door just as his target was exiting.

Henry drew his wrench and whacked his target across the head, instantly knocking the other man out cold, inside the door. The two other guards saw this happen and charged toward the door. Henry quickly backed into the room, letting the door close behind him and his victim. He silently pulled out his crash-beam and aimed it at the door and the men beyond. With a single click he momentarily scrambled the door's access codes, locking the two men out.

The two men began to panic as they knew something very strange had happened as both of their shields shut off within seconds of each other. The two guards exchanged terrified glances as they tried their key codes to no avail. Panicking, they both looked away from the door, half expecting to be shot dead on the spot. A moment passes, then the door opens.

Henry charges forward with his victim in hand, moving five times faster than any normal man. He dashes past the bewildered guards, straight into the glass view port, shattering it like a speeding bullet.

“What just happened?” Asked one of the guards.

“I think we just lost our supervisor to a Ghost.” the other replied as he stared at the broken glass in utter shock.

Interesting premise, nice writing!

But i completely lost track of how many people were involved and what they were doing when the turret started shooting... ._.

And, that's my personal impression, the repetition of Henry's name makes the read a little bit awkward ._.

I'm not a good writer myself, so take it with a grain of salt or two.
Apparently, sometimes stuff might happen.

Thanks for the feedback.
There are two groups of guards in this story, each group consisting of about 3-4 men. The first group was standing by a turret which began shooting at members of their group, freaking out the entire party and causing a panic. The panicking men look around in confusion, trying to see if the turret is shooting at someone else. One of these guards steps by the automatic door (which requires a keycard to open) and the door opens for a moment.

Henry teleports himself through the door and into the adjacent room where 2 guards are watch over the doorway of a small cargo room. One man is inside the cargo room doing a routine check to ensure everything is in order.

In total, 6 to 7 guards, in two groups.
