Initial Report into The Observed exterior of Lunar Artefact 2056-09-22:00277A88E

Secret. Clearance Level Required: 9.

Publication Date 2056-11-12

Abstract:
A detailed observation at the visual and microscopic levels of the external surfaces of Artefact 2056-09-22:00277A88E was performed. The surface micro-structure indicates regular atomic crystallisation consistent with a manufactured object as opposed to one that might occur naturally. The shape of the artefact supports this conclusion. Visual inspection of the object identified a single irregularity in the material composing the surface. This irregularity appears to be an interface port of some kind, further adding weight to the theory that the artefact is not a result of a natural process.

Initial Report into the Exterior Surface Composition of Lunar Artefact 2056-09-22:00277A88E

Secret. Clearance Level Required: 9.

Publication Date 2057-04-12

Abstract:
A detailed investigation of the thermal properties and microstructures of Artefact 2056-09-22:00277A88E was performed. Three samples taken from the surface material were subjected to thermal analysis. Each material exhibited a shift in the grain size/density relationship favouring densification, most likely resulting from high speed impact with the lunar surface. Differences in the response of the sample materials are attributed to the differences in the grain boundary mobility. Modulus of rupture and toughness of both microwave and conventionally sintered samples were similar. Following isothermal heating at 13000C, the samples were found to be significantly more resistant than control samples of conventionally available materials. The artefact is composed of an alloy that might be reproducible with minor advancements in current technology but it is extremely unlikely to have been produced with currently available methodologies and practices. These findings have significant implications for the commercial application of reverse engineered methods to produce similar materials.

2057-11-01 : Lunar Artefact 2056-09-22:00277A88E arrived today. Never seen such security. Felt a bit nervous as seven guys in full combat armour escorted the palette into the secure room. Got my first look at it through the viewing window as the packing was removed and the artefact was placed on the work bench. I’ll get to take a closer look in a few days. Can’t wait.
2057-11-03 : Read the reports from Paris. The artefact is ancient. The archeo’s couldn’t say exactly how old but it is positively ancient. At least 10,000 years is what they say. Maybe more.
2057-11-14 : Got three more hours with the artefact today. Ran some scans and a few tests. Finally got a few blurry interior images after ramping up the radiation levels on the X-Ray machine. No idea what to make of them as they are too indistinct to discern individual components.
