Re: The Beginning of the Golden Days!
I'm glad I was wrong when I convinced myself Josh has simply burnt out and wouldn't be able to force himself to dive into LT again.

Re: The Beginning of the Golden Days!
it's awesome to hear that there is an actual battle plan and not a how quickly can Josh destroy himself plan. I think we have a lot to look forward too now and the game we have all been waiting for is on a good path again.

Fantastic news man, seriously this is the single best thing you could have possibly done, now I have 0 concerns, both for you and the game.

Re: The Beginning of the Golden Days!
Late to the thread, but very glad to hear from you Josh! I agree with the positive sentiment in the room, we're all glad to hear fun news like this!
As personal, or short sighted, as some people/posts can get -- it' easy to see how the forum could become a stressor.
But, I'm hopeful that this forum... YOUR forum... can be a place where you feel completely comfortable posting something (or nothing at all, I mean look at the "afro" and "train" threads for goodness sake) whenever you like. When one puts their head down "in code", I think it's healthy to have a place to vent, blert or otherwise express yourself... and I know this forum is filled with who have a genuine delight in what you are doing!
I don't think any of us wants to add any pressure to your life. In fact, if we can ever be a release valve where you can tell people who are excited for what you do, something that you are excited about... I know we'd love it. We're excited for you, the game... and I think we're starting to realize that we want YOU to be excited for the game at least through the eventual "LT 2020: Universe Unlimited" release!
ALL the best!

Re: The Beginning of the Golden Days!
So how quiet are the new Golden Days going to be, Josh? Will we get an occasional random post about the progress you are making or will it be indistinguishable from the Dark Days?
I'm happy, hope you're happy too but the backers on KS are STILL living through the Dark Days....officially.

I have no doubts or concerns that Josh is working away on LT. And I'm not even tempted to ask for a regular update.
But it would be nice to hear how things are going. It's been a while again.

There just isn't any point. Nothing to be gained. You don't feel better about it, he doesn't feel better about it NO one feels better about it. Maybe to some they think that lighting a fire under someones ass is a good motivator but we've seen that to very obviously NOT work in the case of Josh. So yes, we all know it is frustrating. We all know what Josh is doing/has done in the past with regards to false hopes/positives but can we please as a community stop trying to call him out on it as if it is going to actually help? He's clearly in a good place and doing what is best for LT. If the best for LT is to not communicate regularly then so be it. No one here is qualified to say otherwise. The only one that is qualified to make that call is Josh himself.
Re: The Beginning of the Golden Days!
I just wanna put this out there. Victor, I hope you know that most if not all of this community respects you very highly. We also know that Josh has pointed out the issue there seems to be with trying to PM him directly (as in... it isn't feasible). However regardless of the issues personal or otherwise that have arisen it might be a good idea not to blatantly "call Josh out" as you and others seem to be very fond of doing on the forums. It is just counterproductive and pointless. I myself find THIS post that I am making to be pointless, however I am posting it here as opposed to in a direct PM to you in hopes that others who would seek to do the same/similar thing when their frustration reaches a certain point that they stop themselves.Victor Tombs wrote:So how quiet are the new Golden Days going to be, Josh? Re: The Beginning of the Golden Days!
I may be wrong, TGS, but I would hardly call asking a perfectly valid question about what Josh intended to do concerning updates "calling him out". I suppose I could just sit back and ignore LT altogether. It's not like there's much but speculation going on at the moment anyway. I feel somewhat wounded that you would think I am just causing trouble. I genuinely would like to know the answer to my first question. I expect I'm not alone in this. Thanks Flat!
The second part of my post is more in the way of a reminder that the backers of this project have received no official communications from Josh since January and it's about time he stopped faffing about and gave the thousands who backed him some sort of official update. It was supposed to be on the coding warrior's priority list.
Am I asking too much?

TGS does have a point though. You have posted much the same request a number of times now. The fact that Josh has not directly addressed the concerns you have repeatedly given voice to speaks volumes.
At this point, it is safe to conclude that he will present an update only when he feels ready to do so. Continually pushing for clarification regarding the next update is unlikely to yield materially different results other than to make your queries appear increasingly plaintive (and possibly just a tad pitiful).
As concerns a Kickstarter update, while I do not share Ian Wellock/Ringu's condemnation of Josh's silence as being "deeply insulting and contemptible" I do think that by now Josh should have minimally made a short statement that shed light on the current state of development. While indirect, one of the backers did link to this thread, however.
As a final note, I suspect that keeping backers/supporters at arm's length is based less on personal desire than on being an active part of Josh's recovery.

Free from clouds of attachment.

Re: The Beginning of the Golden Days!
I find myself strongly agreeing with this. Josh is a showman - there's probably a part of him that would very much like to show off what he has. He's given updates where not much had changed besides graphics before - the fact that he hasn't done anything like this, when there clearly should be something to show, likely means that Josh doesn't feel he has a choice.Tom wrote:No, you are not.Victor Tombs wrote:Am I asking too much?

Re: The Beginning of the Golden Days!
As the others have said. No Victor you are not asking too much, not even close. These are all very valid questions and concerns. However they have been expressed. Josh knows they have been expressed. He has even acknowledged the expression of them. He has sought to change. That's about all there is to it. No point rehashing it further. Even if he comes out and says things will change, if they don't... oh well. It isn't like we haven't been here before.
I don't think you are trying to cause trouble either Victor, quite the contrary actually. I think you are trying to cause action. Needed, helpful and most of all important action. My post was merely to highlight that this is not a new issue or request. If at first you don't succeed... in this case do not keep trying again and again and again because it won't work.
Also I just wanna point out that I'm not White knighting here either, I have been plenty critical of Josh in my own ways and even vocal about it. I just believe firmly in not senselessly beating heads against walls, from a community standpoint that is. Also I don't think anyone should simply forget about LT. It isn't the kind of game you can or should forget about. If Josh takes another year to finish it and doesn't communicate a single thing with us until unleashing it and it is all he claimed and more... are you really going to hold the grudge? Hopefully not. Because none of this should be taken personally.
P.S. No I'm not suggesting that is it in any way shape or form okay if it takes Josh another year to finish LT.
