Great video, it's really exciting to see the dynamic world coming to life, so much so I had to register to say so!
I'm looking forward to see if it's possible to make the market a bit less game-able / allow the NPCs to hold onto their assets for a better price (i.e. speculation).
I also wondered about how specialisation might occur naturally (beyond "what the NPC likes to do"), say there's an opportunity to make some money as a trader, NPC upgrades its cargo bay to take more stuff, this would presumably make the NPC more inclined to take / look for trades in future, and from the point of view of specialised factions. Are the commanding NPCs are going to prefer to people they've worked with in the past (I guess this'll link into if NPCs can disobey / betray and how trustworthy they are), i.e. do NPCs 'network' like people do? All very interesting to see where this goes.
Would have loved to see the market at normal speed, see all the traders spread out and miners actually going about doing their mining, maybe in future updates when it's not needed for the market to be exaggerated.
I was mildly concerned that with that many NPCs all reviewing data and making decisions quickly, once you've got all the other gameplay systems in place they might eat up all the opportunities (for setting up relay stations / productions / pirate base in the asteroid field to take stuff from miners) before the player gets a look in, but maybe after specialisations and the fact NPCs have to choose to do one thing or another, it won't be an issue... also doubt all systems will be quite that busy eh?
Again really loving all these updates, will try to come to the forums to talk about it rather than over twitter in future
