I'm fine with people sending me news about products I've bought, or asked them to keep me informed about. I'm not fine with companies selling my information.
Because of this I'm using a separate email address for a lot of services. I've created a catch-all sub domain to receive personal mail on. Then I register with services like twitter with twitter@my.subdomain.com. If I ever get any mail on that address that isn't from twitter, I know something's up.
