Yes, it has grown some patina, and the CGI is not comparable to modern times. There are also some parts where our scientific understanding has further developed since the 80's. But having said all that, Carl Sagan is still a truly inspiring and truly skilled communicator for the universe, or simply: Cosmos.

Except that it's not from BBC, but from National Geographic Channel (their logo is in the top left corner the whole time) in association with Discovery Channel, it's not called "Life in The Universe", but "Journey to the Edge of the Universe", and it's clearly not in HD 1080p.
