Seeing M13 though my university's 14" refractor was jaw-droppingly astonishing. It was like a 3D holographic projection... but all of the dots were real stars, circling each other in a billion-year dance.

It's why globular clusters will always be my favorite deep-sky object, and why I bother trying to do the occasional bit of astrophotography myself.

Got my first telescope when I was twelve, and the first thing I went looking for was Saturn.
Seeing it with my own eyes was awesome! This is Cassini's final full-ring portrait - beautiful!

Even the prettiest of space games never look quite that pretty.
Filters have a lot to answer for - a lot of that stuff you'd not see with normal vision.

The Horsehead Nebula in infrared is nice:

Hokey smokes -- somebody's got Astrodon filters and a good tracking mount.

A request, though: for those of us who sometimes view this forum on a dinky phone with a less-than-stellar data connection, could we please wrap images in a spoiler tag?

Merci!
