This talk made me think about @JoshParnell's thoughts about the possibilities of procedural generation: https://www.ted.com/talks/michael_hansm ... ble_shapes
I really wonder how the folding is actually done, though!

Re: Interesting TED-talk about procedural modelling
Now that is a very cool TED talk. It makes me wonder just how good modern computers are at producing designs like these and it also shows how millions of good looking ships are possible when the correct generation technique is used. LT already has some interesting icons, nebula, and planets it can generate. I'm sure ships aren't too far in the future.

Me likey!
Well I'd actually known about these for quite a while now. I'd love to see this in LT, but I wonder about the practicality of getting that detailed, simply for computation limitations. Find a way to make these sorts of things with good dynamic LOD or just computationally cheap, then by all means, Yes, Yes, and more yes, with a side of yes, and some more yes for dessert.

Challenging your assumptions is good for your health, good for your business, and good for your future. Stay skeptical but never undervalue the importance of a new and unfamiliar perspective.

Re: Interesting TED-talk about procedural modelling
Does anyone have any idea of how the folding is done? I have experience with 3D modelling, but can not imagine how!
