Neural Networks: Bad At Naming

#1
I have been laughing my head off, and I had to share this.

There is a Tumblr site called Postcards From the Frontiers of Science. Lately it has been about things that, as it turns out, neural networks can be trained to do, and then be horribly abused.

You should check out the whole thing, but among my favorites so far are:
  • A neural net that transforms line drawings of anything to cats
  • Disturbing names for paint colors (which sometimes match the actual paint color)
  • Recipes for cookies and cakes that include rather a lot of meat products
  • Depressing fortune cookie fortunes, often about birds
  • Arcane new D&D magic spells, such as "Farming"

I laughed 'til I cried at the cookies that devolved from possibly ok(?) peanut butter to toss in the horseradish! Tuna! Shrimp! Squid! Liver! All the things!
