Re: Rocket Lunches
The boffins continued to eat through their four-hour launch window
How many other people read that as "lunch"?

Not a lunch, but a touchdown - hopefully! Hayabusa-2 will deploy its two landers on Friday (about 04:00 Zulu).

Re: Rocket Lunches
Speaking of things that rockets have lunched, I've really been enjoying this constantly-updated GIF image from the new GOES-EAST satellite.
I started watching it a week or so before Hurricane Florence formed, and it was amazing to watch it take shape and move west. You can also see the huge masses of fine Saharan dust that collect in giant circles and trudge westward.
Satellite tech is awesome.

Re: Rocket Lunches
That last picture, was it something you could see with your bare eye or something that was captured by long exposure on your camera? Because if the latter is already cool, the former would be absolutely awesome. It may sound like a stupid question, but with all of these photography tricks and filters, you never know...

Re: Rocket Lunches
It was with my phone camera. It actually looked more spectacular in person, if you can believe it. My phone camera doesn't like low light very much.Flagon_15 wrote: ↑Sat Nov 17, 2018 3:43 amThat last picture, was it something you could see with your bare eye or something that was captured by long exposure on your camera? NASA's InSight stream is starting now! In less than an hour, NASA's InSight lander will begin its descent and landing. The goal of this mission is to learn more about Mars' interior.

The Indians are launching an Earth observation satellite (with a bunch of cubesats) at around 11:30pm EST, stream starting at 11:00pm EST. Theoretically this is the link for it

Re: Rocket Lunches
Watched this in English 102 class, because my teacher is excessively lax with her rules. In fact, she watched part of it too, as did a few other fellers in the class. When they weren't playing the Google-homepage-game, that is.
