I'm rather fond of triangular shapes for space ships in general. There's nothing more boring than square, box shaped capital ships, really.

This is where the cat is from and yes you should definitely watch that.

Egads, they're awesome! Some of the capital ships are drool-worthy.Hardenberg wrote:From the Feather of Alexey "KaranaK"

Re: Post Your Favorite Sci-Fi Concept Art
The Star Conflict ships are pretty cool. And the game, as limited as it was at the time I played it, was a good time killer and fun!
And I miss some Macross (one of my fav manga/anime of all times) art, so...
And my fav...
Sorry for the size. Have we posting rules for big pictures?

Re: Post Your Favorite Sci-Fi Concept Art
Not concept art, but a top ten of cool spaceships.
I won't spoil it, but, really? Number 1? Really? It looks like a toilet seat. And 2 cooler than 3? Really?
Etc etc.

And then there's all the ships which aren't in the video, but are way cooler that at least half of those that are. The LEXX, anyone? The Discovery One? The Event Horizon? (Yes, you may notice a certain preference for longish ships with delicately thin "bridges" as a middle section. )
Re: Post Your Favorite Sci-Fi Concept Art
Yep. Also, 2 and 3 are not even ships to begin with.HowSerendipitous wrote:Not concept art, but a top ten of cool spaceships.

Yeah, like the Leonov and its wonderful spinny section! Or the Minbari Sharlin warcruiser. Or the Vorlon heavy cruiser!Commander McLane wrote:Yep. Also, 2 and 3 are not even ships to begin with.HowSerendipitous wrote:Not concept art, but a top ten of cool spaceships.

Re: Post Your Favorite Sci-Fi Concept Art
Here's something I made myself a veeeery long time ago, entirely in Photoshop years ago. I have touched it up with new stuff every now and again until about a year ago when I considered it finally 'done'.
Okay, it is a very high res image, so I'm gonna do an external URL instead of an '{img}' since it cuts off most of the image.
http://i.imgur.com/Gbth5lT.jpg
P.S. The image has been resized to a higher resolution multiple times, first from 1280x720 to 1600x900, then to 1920x1080, and finally to 3840x2160. So some things will look far less detailed due to the resolution compensation.

Cowards die many times before their deaths, the valiant never taste of death but once. Of all the wonders that I have seen, it seem to me most strange, that men should fear, seeing that death, a necessary end, will come when it will come.

I always found this ship looking a lot like a toy. :/ I feel like they wanted to go for something majestic, but there's still something off.Gunther Haldan wrote:The Andromeda ascendant from Gene Roddenberry's Andromeda http://fc04.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2010/ ... Hatvok.jpg
