my understanding is that this is the kind of joystick (i.e. pressure-based, not motion based) that is used in F-16s.
pretty much, yeah.
the stick seems to be aimed at military flight sim players, so its a pretty accurate replica of modern fighter controls
to my knowledge every modern fighter uses such a force-based control stick

My biggest concern is the throttle, and whether I'd be able to use it effectively with my right hand, since many switches seem to be on the right hand side of it.
yeah, that looks like it would be
very uncomfortable / impractical to use with the right hand.
its still better than my saitek x52 throttle, as that throttle is very closely molded on left hands.

But as I said, I may also just have to learn to use the joystick/throttle combo like most people. But I'll seriously have a think about this one.
i guess that would on long run the best method.
it shouldnt be too hard if you play a weekend or two some space flight sim.
i was confined to my left hand once (for a weekend only thankfully) and i pretty much managed to play games which i only needed one hand for.
i'd definitely be able to play games "the other way around" if i'd invest a bit of time in learning to do so.
