Re: Planetary Movement

I don't think it would actually take much of Josh's time, really. All he has to do is make it so the celestial bodies move on a fixed orbit based on their velocity, mass, distance from the sun, and the sun's mass. Not too hard, and I think it would add considerable depth. That's what everybody alwa...

Re: Researchable Tech

The first level might get you 10%, then the next 9.1%, and so on until you are only getting .00x percent per upgrade, to a final limit. Yeah, that's what happens automatically in a linear level system where you go from: lvl 1: 100% efficiency lvl 2: 110% lvl 3: 120% lvl 4: 130% ... Because 120/110 ...

Re: Researchable Tech

Also, it would be cool if there was no limit of how many times you could upgrade something, but eventually the benefit would fade away next to the cost.

Re: The Road Taken... Ideas for mapping your personal univer

The implementation of a map you can make is necessary. It should be a sphere starting from your spawnpoint and growing as you explore the universe. https://encrypted-tbn1.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcToR2TQjQcTpBfl2gddxctizTm_S68-VQJOis-6XLp5TKSuCR6xxQ Than you can zoom in or out and you shows th...

Re: Resource Gathering

Owls can't fly in the atmosphere of an asteroid. So I'm going to rule that out. I think mining lasers were confirmed as a 2in1 mix between a tractor beam and a laser. You could nuke an asteroid and tractor beam it up too, if I'm not thinking of something else and completely spacing. I hope there are...

Re: A couple of questions

Hello Josh. It's awesome to see how you are realizing your dream, and I would love to help you do so through Kickstarter, however I would first like to ask you a few question to make sure you can realize my dream of the perfect space-sim. :D 1) Will the combat system be intuitive and be easy to tra...

Re: Weapons

As per Josh: The ships that the player buys will indeed be procedural, and you will be able to modify the equipment of the ship, but not the actual form itself (unless we hit the stretch goal, in which case you will actually be able to design the hull). That means that you can choose which weapons ...

Re: Researchable Tech

Procedural generated tech tree: It would be hard, but I would like it. Actually generating a new web could be hard, but generating an new starting point might be easier. You would create a tech-tree in the traditional sense, then create one point that that faction learned. The player might be able t...
