Re: Elite Dangerous

Elite, sometimes a single player game, that really should be Multiplayer! A second pilot can reduce your damage taken by half, increase your damage output by twice, allow you clearer shots on targets, and provide you with entertaining commentary and direction! Oh, it increasingly tries. According t...

Re: How would you rank these space sci-fi franchises?

Place 1: Hitchhikers Guide (mostly based on the books). Because it's a brilliant kind of funny. Place 2: Firefly. Has more/deeper plot than most other franchises Place 3: Babylon 5. Space battles FTW. Place 4: Battlestar Galactica (mostly based on the old series). Space battles FTW again, but cannot...

Re: EVERSPACE

Sounds interesting, but may not be quite my cup of tea. Especially coming from X3, where I could fly lots of different ships if I wanted to. I think LT as announced is still closer to what I'd like to see. Perhaps not quite as deep in the details of what each item can do, but with a lot more options...

Re: Star Citizen

The gaming community has been weary of Derek Smart for awhile though. I'd take the article with a grain of salt. :? That may be, and while he may have his own ax to grind, he does bring up some very valid points that can't be summarily dismissed just because he is the one who happens to be pointing...

Re: looking forward

@Cornflakes: Thanks for the reminder of the stretch goals. It shows how Josh can sometimes be a bit overoptimistic. The first NOT achieved stretch goal would have included Seamless Planetary Landings Walking/Ship Interiors and Multiplayer All of that for only $15k more than the previous stretch goal...

Re: JOSH NO IS KILL!!!

I agree with you. Josh has nothing to fear in terms of competition. Terraria, Minecraft, Starbound and Starmade (and all the others) all do quite well together, despite all being block-based games. Plenty of room for everyone. :) This. Star Citizen and Elite Dangerous may look better, but not every...

Re: The Carriers

Mobile base : think of a General System Vehicle in the Culture universe. Home to billions, with factories and all. This is basically a large space station that can move around. Realistic and balanced? Perhaps no, but a fun way to explore and explore without ever needing to turn back. More expensive...

Re: Star Citizen

By the way, the other end of the spectrum is World of Tanks, where people constantly whine not to care about toasters and raise the sys requirement bar... Even World Of Tanks seems to raise said system requirements. My main PC can still handle it fine, but my secondary one with AMD Athlon 4600+ 2GB...

Re: Eve: Valkyrie

That's exactly what I mean. Valkyrie and Dust/Whatever might be directly linked, but the link between those and EVE online will always be indirect at best, because the way EVE's combat mechanics work. You'll never jump into a fighter and fly around shooting things with twitch based combat in space....

Re: Eve: Valkyrie

Or maybe a twitch-like system could be "faked" for valkyrie using a modified eve system  I think that would break down, at least immersion wise, as soon as the Valkyrie fighters close to X3-like distances. As a fighter pilot, I would be able to see the weapons fire and I would expect it to b...

Re: Eve: Valkyrie

It's all a scaling thing. What happens when Capsuleers want to take over a planet or a station now and how could Valkyrie and Dust improve that experience. I'll put a most simplified example: Capsuleer A wants an infrastructure on a planet. Now he clicks some buttons and the "battle" begins. If EVE...

Re: How long more are you going to wait?

Josh is a smart guy, and he knows very well the detrimental effect his silence will have on the community, his reputation, and LT as a whole. He's an indie dev, and he know all the stories and gripes about the numerous vaporware projects that have came and gone. But it's not that I don't think the ...
