Re: Now on to ships !

We may see some, though I think Josh has been pouring most of his brain cells into HUD and UI for the last while. He might have sneaked some new shinies in, though. What would I give to see LT ships and stations ablaze with lights and blips! Not to mention the mining animations and polished jump ga...

Re: Universe Lore - "Mile Wide Game and Inch Deep thick.."

I quite like the idea of codexs describing the history of civilizations lost, regressed, or current. However, where you definitely had me at: I would love to explore planets not just for the eye candy or purchases - but stumbling over procedural ruins NATIVE to that system (not just world) - and re...

Re: Universe Lore - "Mile Wide Game and Inch Deep thick.."

scousematt, that was one of the (many) things I loved about the original Civilization. Consider these two things: 1. Josh has said, when you start a new game, the AI he's designing might let him generate the initial socio-techno-econo-political structure of the galaxy by seeding multiple sapient ra...

Re: Universe Lore - "Mile Wide Game and Inch Deep thick.."

I hope there is some way to view and understand the history of "what has come before" when the game starts. I'm thinking that, in the vein of Freelancer, objects in space, items, and weapons will have infocards, but I don't know if there will be a proc-gen history book that you can just read start-...

Re: Universe Lore - "Mile Wide Game and Inch Deep thick.."

I am perfectly fine with LT being as deep as X series. I would love to see the BBS that conveys news of happenings in the system actually carry some weight - war erupts in system XYZ and as a consequence we actually see resources like food, ships and weapons dwindle with prices being higher than us...

Re: Universe Lore - "Mile Wide Game and Inch Deep thick.."

I guess it depends on your own reason to play the game. LT is designed as a sandbox, as such it doesn't do much hand-holding, or has a hand-crafted main mission to guide you through the universe. I'd like to compare it to the X series actually. A game where I'd rather have the main storyline not ex...

Universe Lore - "Mile Wide Game and Inch Deep thick.."

Came across this guy's post in RSI forums. https://forums.robertsspaceindustries.com/discussion/60380/limit-theory#latest "Kind of a neat idea, but I have a feeling that game will be a mile wide and an inch deep.... No real universe lore, and cut and paste stories. But we'll see!" In an early stage ...

Re: What might happen this month in the update video..

ooh - I did pick up on these little tidbits in the video - "lights on ships, lights on stations" - that eye candy alone should "light up" the LT universe in a significant way :) - hey josh - add Lights on planets too - would love to see these in future vids!! Loved the update vid! Have seen it 3rice...

Re: Elite Dangerous

Been playing alpha for a couple of days. Here's the kicker : THERE ARE NO BUGS!! I mean - sure the gameplay is narrow - kill X use Strategy Y to Kill Z - but its alpha!! Its a huge project with complex mechanics - and there are literally no bugs!! There's actually a thread in FD forums - where are t...
