Re: Missions Question

Maybe the two mining companies would stare blankly and say "What do we look like? Mercenaries? Come on Tony, lets go get some rocks." :D Seriously tho I like the idea of being the shadowy (despicable, dastardly?) arms dealer instigating hostilities in the world so you can sell weapons to both sides....

Re: Pareidolic Icons

These images remind me of the cats drawn by Louis Wain as he is thought to have progressed into increasingly more pronounced stages of schizophrenia (possibly as a result of toxoplasmosis from his own cats). http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/1/12/Louis_wain_cats.png I'm not suggesting a...

Re: AOE?

100km are nothing in real space combat. Even low earth orbit gives you so much room to navigate that those 200km sphere is nothing more than a harmless blip far between your ships And in LT we have ships that travel between planets in minutes, so that radiation bubble becomes a mere point in infini...

Re: Stars and planets...

This whole conversation made me think of John Cavil from Battlestar (the old man cylon), speaking to his creators about witnessing the supernova with his human senses, and regretting that they are so limited. I loved that scene :D Brother Cavil: In all your travels, have you ever seen a star go supe...

Re: battlestar galactica type fighter launch

I know that josh has said that he likes the inertial drag field for small craft that come near to large craft, but I'm not sure if it is set in stone. How that might affect the launch and retrieval of craft? I would love to see catapaults for carriers personally. Maybe tractor beams could be used fo...

Re: High speed travel

Judging from this I would say to some extent yes. Now I just need to convince josh of proximity fuses for Battleship guns  Just because missiles do AOE damage does not mean they have a shockwave. It could be a burst of radiation or shrapnel or possibly even something more futuristic that t...

Re: Naval Review

You're right of course Flatfingers, I am by no stretch of the imagination, a programmer. So its true that I cant really say what is and is not possible to do with the AI's understanding of operational level combat. I do however think that the answer probably lies in a modified version of the mission...

Re: High speed travel

I for one am a huge fan of the fluid medium universe. I mean, theoretically, in infinite universes, there has to be at least an infinite number of parallel universes that are full of "stuff" instead of void. Right? :D Yeah but Species 8472 killed everything else in it, didn't they? Rather than imag...

Right? :D I actually hope that Josh plays with it some in the game lore. Perhaps wormholes a...

Re: Atmospheric Flight

ThymineC wrote:This has all been discussed here - mostly on the second page I believe.
Fair enough I was under the impression that atmospheric flight had been added.

It would be interesting if using a planet for sensors cover had the drawback of being potentially dangerous as well...

Atmospheric Flight

Will all ships be able to descend and ascend into the atmospheres of planets, or will it require avionics modules, an aerodynamic fuselage, reentry tiles (perhaps shields will suffice?)? Or can my 28,000 ton flying brick enter space and reenter atmospheres at will? I tend to lead toward the former, ...
