Re: Wear and Tear

Exactly... So I'm wondering what kind of scenario's you have in mind for this. ... In LT it doesn't /really/ matter how complicated or annoying you make upkeep. Except if you keep in mind that the game has to be fun in itself. Concerning bigger ships, I assume that the crew that gets hired for thes...

Re: Wear and Tear

I don't like the idea of age-dependant wear and tear personally. I'm fine with all kinds of upkeep, fuel, resupplies, or even ships that are too damaged to be repaired... But having stuff require more upkeep because it's older just doesn't sound like a lot of fun to me. I see age-dependent wear as ...

Re: Fuel?

What if fuel was based on the efficiency of the ships engine instead of a constant. For instance a scout could have near infinite fuel while a battle ship would rely more heavily on fuel because of its mass and military function. This way new players could explore the universe without any real issu...

I leave my computer on (with a UPS) for an entire year. And I keep LT running the whole time. Where is the average NPC faction's tech level by then? If t...

Re: How to stop every single AI from becoming super-rich

AI=PLAYER! AI needs to same with Player. This is needs to be hard! I don't want to fight against noob AI's The AI may need to be able to learn from the player. There is a fine balance where the AI needs to be skillful enough to give the player a run for their money while also not always being over ...

Re: Time in LT

The problem is that it takes too long to construct extremely large or even moderately large vessels. In the above examples I demonstrated that if the game uses relatively accurate values for metal requirements while having very fast drones it would still take 1 drone 16 days to construct an aircraft...

Re: Time in LT

Since McDuff brought up construction using material I thought I'd put some things into perspective. Lets assume a construction drone can construct 1 tonne of steel into a vessel in 30 seconds. Since a car is about 2400 pounds of steel this process would take about 30 seconds. If you wanted to build ...
