The ships in the original Elite (1984) were nearly all named after snakes.
Thanks, they are probably unrelated then.
Original Falcon is from 1984 as well. Even if Braben and Bell had played it (during their time at Cambridge Uni), it is unlikely that the title could influence them to that point.

Re: Elite Dangerous

The reason why I am unconcerned by a "dead" universe, by "boring" gameplay, by a "lack of things to do" is because I derive 90% of my Elite enjoyment just from flying the ship. The mere action of controlling a spacecraft is so fun that nothing else really matters. :D (and I think I've mentioned thi...

Re: Skyrim

Yep, only one companion, I'm also playing on legendary, it wouldn't be fair otherwise. That's even more impressive and a real challenge! I like a team of about four or five which makes it more like one of the older games I used to play called Baldur's Gate. I've no plans concerning the number of se...

Re: [Help!] Changing Hard Disk and reinstalling Steam & its games

Thanks a lot guys! -- that was good help  Yesterday I lived through the Windows Updates. I feel stronger, somehow :wtf: As if I endured some hell like a pro. At the first run Windows Update made 2 small updates for the very Windows Update component. It took 5 minutes. Nice. At the second ru...

[Help!] Changing Hard Disk and reinstalling Steam & its games

Hello, I am moving onto a new Hard Disk. Reinstalling everything (even the Windows Updates.... God, give me strength!) It is a tedious task, no need to tell, and I could use some automation. I am concerned about my Steam client. I would like to export every customization I made to it over the years ...

Re: Skyrim

How long do you think it will take for the paid mods to come and go? Will it be like last time and only last upwards of a month? I'm amazed anyone is paying for mods. BFett. I'm a premium member of Nexus and I haven't paid for a single mod, I've made donations to those modders I deem to be worthy o...

Re: Skyrim

Allow me... ok for the "no mods" policy, it is your call, but you should consider at the very least the unofficial Skyrim patch, which technically is a mod, but fixes a five-digits figure worth of bugs throughout the whole game (base Skyrim + DLCs), covering quests, scripts, audio, dialogues, subtit...

Re: Fallout 4

Wow, that's terrible. :( I'm glad I didn't get it during the last sale - I almost did. Same here. I had half a thought to buy it... I do not suppose FO4 will ever land on GOG? How would it handle the encrypted mods? (Open... On a side note FO3 is still a blast to play. GFWL is easily disabled, we g...

Re: Oolite (Not the egg stone variety)

Last I tried Oolite I was totally turned off by it. Horrible graphics. Even worse sound & music. It was so blatantly bare bones that I suspected immediately that it was meant to be played with mods. In fact I searched for mods and found a scary long list of them. So long that again I was turned off....

Re: No Man's Sky

I've played several hours of this update now. Here are a few unorganized impressions: But flying under arches and things is still out, and the old clunky hand-holdy-ness is still conspicuously there. Hi, what do you mean with hand-holdy-ness -- would you elaborate, please? I do not have the game, b...
