Re: S46's mega suggestion thread (will edit whenever something new pops up from out of my brain)

[...] but how is that supposed to work when on-station politics are abstracted away (Read: not in the game) as per CSE's statement? That megastation can evolve naturally from economic interest in lowering the cost to share ressources as transportation cost decreases. Then, like any collection of NP...

Re: S46's mega suggestion thread (will edit whenever something new pops up from out of my brain)

I maintain that similarly to the fact that we will not simulate the complete economy and politics of a planet, ergo don't need to simulate it in a station or a mega-structure. Still they can and will share ressources, as agents (NPC or Player) will "transport without ships" services and product (inc...

Re: S46's mega suggestion thread (will edit whenever something new pops up from out of my brain)

TL;DR it would (in my mind) be that theres one main culture on a station with a couple of subcultures derived from / around it. Yeah, but basically, when you land in one station, you get one image and one description. They can be complex, explain that the society is diverse, but there is only one. ...

Re: S46's mega suggestion thread (will edit whenever something new pops up from out of my brain)

the difference here in my mind is that cities usually arent directly connected. but a megastation is just one gigantic blob of infrastructure, so who controls what parts of it? logically there'd be a gigantic lot of politics who controls which generator and where its power is flowing and the owners...

Re: S46's mega suggestion thread (will edit whenever something new pops up from out of my brain)

Those things can house civilisations. Hundreds of millions of people at least. Yeah, well, I thought about this. In theory, you are right - realistically, most world would have a wide variety of climatic zones and lanscapes, most stations are big enough for a whole variety of society and specialise...

Re: S46's mega suggestion thread (will edit whenever something new pops up from out of my brain)

Then what about the multiple entry point as typical behavior What does "multiple entry point" do? A station doesnt need to be special to have two hangar bays :V Is there more than one station in the game? If yes, are they all the same? If no, then obviously, there are differences in what individual...

Re: S46's mega suggestion thread (will edit whenever something new pops up from out of my brain)

I couldnt care less about how they are labeled. What i care about is how megastations are mechanically different from a Station writ large that they need independent implementation. Which is what 46 asked for, them getting implemented. There is nothing to implement if the only thing that separates ...

Re: S46's mega suggestion thread (will edit whenever something new pops up from out of my brain)

It is special. how? How would they behave differently? Give me concrete examples instead of nebulous "its different"s So you're saying that a capital ship is a giant fighter with a single cockpit and all that? For all gameplay purposes? Yes. Its a big ship which may has different weaponry but funct...

Re: UPS (uninterruptible power supply)/ power bank/ power storage

Why should your opinion on turret power allocation be binding for me? It shouldn't. As usual, one can always argument for more options, more freedom, less constraints. This is always a good talking point - who can be against freedom? But as usual in life, there are compromises: The major one is dep...
