Re: Kerbal Space Program

I now have a new found love of separatrons from this thread. After the near disaster with "mission inadvertently strand Jeb on the Mun" having collision issues in orbit with fuel tank stages, you guys suggested I apply some sep's to the design some pages ago. Landge, whilst I like your sensible, eff...

Re: Kerbal Space Program

Good work there. It is really great to see how others do things in this game. Firstly, great landing on the Mun, secondly re-docking to the previous stage was great. Also liked the touch of landing near mission control! Oh yeah - great accompanying text with the images! 'HowSerendipitous' - great me...

Re: Kerbal Space Program

Seems to be the 'in thing' rescuing these plucky adventurers these days. Good on ya chaps - no Kerbal left behind etc! Now, Landge, I believe as someone with enormous KSP skill that you should demonstrate to us lowly mortals how to land a space bound hotel and rescue all in one go  Go on, y...

Re: Kerbal Space Program

Hey chaps, thought I'd give an update... after about what feels like a billion exotic (and failed) attempts at getting to the Mun to fetch back my marooned Jeb, I decided to revisit the design that stranded him there in the first place! Basically I adjusted the fuel as suggested, switched to a more ...

Re: Kerbal Space Program

Truly inspirational both of you. Congratulations you managed to get my mind mulling over KSP things instead of work things all day! Tonight is going to be spent trying some lander and rover tricks... maybe even make an initial attempt at landing some monstrosity close to our brave green tinged Kerb-...

Re: Kerbal Space Program

Yeah, I thought it was pretty much game over for old Jeb too! The plan had been to leave half a tank for the return trip, this was all going to plan until the slight oversight with the engine and struts came to light (engine too big/powerful, struts too short). I used all fuel to get a hover about 1...

Re: Kerbal Space Program

I've been away from KSP for a little while as life caught up on me, so tonight I thought I'd dip back in. Whilst I do not have a fraction of the skill of others here, I thought I would share how it went... In keeping with my unerring ability to strand my little green friends on desolate bits of rock...

Maths on the GPU

Hi, I've been reading the dev logs regularly, and Josh's latest mentions that the GPU is crazy fast at maths (like you'd expect).

My question is whether this is all handled via shaders or is it using CUDA? I am a lowly AMD user and CUDA and my gfx card are very unlikely to ever be best buddies!

Re: Kerbal Space Program

That is a cool story and bravo on the rescue... I doff my hat to you ;) I love the pictures too and can't help but notice that things have changed again since my last jaunt into the Kerbal fun... off to go play with the new toys now :D Matthew - thanks for the advice, it still feels a bit daunting g...

Re: Kerbal Space Program

I completely love KSP and it is one of the few games that my kids are allowed to play at their age (with help). Currently we have a fair few Kerbals stuck in low orbit with no fuel, one who has decided to exit the solar system altogether it seems after missing the 'Mun' a bit, and a whole collection...
