Re: Destructable Planets

When someone has a Death Star they don't really need a reason to attack you ;) I just think in a game that many people may sink more than a hundred hours of gameplay into a single save game having something as potentially game-breaking as planet destruction may do more harm than good. Station destru...

Re: Ship classification

For example, let's say I found a mod (blue) with the following: -10% Missile Reload Time (pos) [first bonus has no correlated negative] +10% energy weapon damage (pos) +10% shield recharge rate (pos) -15% energy weapon range (neg) [weapon-related negative] +30% shield power requirements (neg) [shie...

Re: Destructable Planets

The problem I see with this is the enemy can build a planet destroying super weapon as well, and whenever the AI gets a super weapon it's always a major PITA. I admit it would be fun to blow up someone else's planet, but when you're on the wrong end of that Death Star it could end up ruining the gam...

Re: Ship classification

Well, you obviously wouldn't be able to stack modules that affect the same stats on the ship, that would definitely get out of hand. Edit: Maybe you could classify them into a few categories. Something like mounting systems (changes the fitting requirements of weapons or potentially other modules li...

Re: Ship classification

I have an idea for a slight modification to the system if you don't mind lending an ear (or actually an eye in this case). Instead of calling them "core modules" we call them "equipment specializers" (because the word "core" implies only one). There is no hard limit on how many you can fit, and they...

Re: Weapon Types

Absolutely! It should be a trade-off of some kind, also expensive, as big instant kills should be awesome both in effect and in rarity. Maybe it requires the entirety of your weapon-system power allocation, that and even if your armor is thick and magnificent, an exploding fighter should be a damag...

Re: Weapon Types

I mentioned this elsewhere, but wanted to put it here too, but what about either specialized tractor beams or Super-Science Magnetized hulls for capital ships that want to force collision, either as an anti-fighter device or as a ramming aid. I feel like there should be some kind of expensive speci...

Re: Weapon Types

Of course you're right, the plasma caster has almost nothing in common with most other magnetic weapons, I'll re-format (and re-word) my OP sometime later today. I see your point there, I was working under the premise that energy blocks energy (hence why energy weapons have no shield penetration), b...

Re: Limited fuel and ammunition and the supply thereof

I don't see how it's a chore to stop by a space station and buy a ton of fuel for the trip. Honestly the game sort of needs stuff like this, else the player will just keep getting an income until they buy the next ship without ever losing any money. Exactly, adding expenses to the game adds a whole...

So literal troll yes. Figurative troll, possibly? :P

Anyways, enough off-topic jibber jabber.

Re: Weapon Types

Something classic. A James Bond oil dispenser. You press a button and start generating a wide cloud of... stuff as you fly. Can make hostiles and missiles lose sight of you, can stick to targets that fly through the could and linger for a few more seconds, can actually be an FAE weapon that explode...

Re: Ship classification

If you do implement Gazz's idea for ship classification would it be possible to add that "core module" as something that is fitted to the ship rather than an unchangeable part of the hull? That way you don't need to find somewhere that finds a hull you kind of like with a core that you sort of like,...

Re: Weapon Types

How about dropping sentry turrets as a defensive measure? They'd be short lived, you'd have a very limited supply, and it would take a fair bit of time to prep subsequent turrets for deployment (to prevent spamming of course). They would only cause noticeable damage to the enemy ship if they refused...

Re: Starship style

I agree paint jobs would be nice BUT only allow it in the THEME. I dont think allowing hello kitty stuff in space would even go with this game, to me it would look awful but i do agree in custom colors in making our fleets noticeable. If anyone has ever played Forza 3 and the new Forza 4 the Car Cu...
