Re: Thursday, May 25, 2017

Good thing I'm not from Germany. And I dunno if there's a copy protection. But I don't think so. Old games were DRM free (mostly). :D Since I'm a bored human being, I did a quick research. Freelancer would ask you for the original CD in your disc drive, which was probably the first version of DRM f...

Re: Thursday, May 25, 2017

Despite that being the only way to get ahold of Freelancer at the moment, I won't encourage pirating it either. It's actually possible to get a hard copy on amazon. Besides, JanB1, I'm sure the game has some copy protection, and removing this protection is an expensive crime in Germany. Just saying...

I don't know. Team management is a whole different topic and you need some experience in it. Especially if the team is not well paid but just works because of fun. We will see how it goes.

Re: Friday, March 17, 2017

I have to admit, I have no idea, what's going on anymore... We went back to C (wasn't the LT core in C or C++ anyways?) and added a new word "entity" to the whole thing and now it's 1000x faster than it was ever before? OK then... I guess, we will see...

Re: Sunday, February 12, 2017

...If it's what it comes down to, and it's a guaranteed failsafe solution... Is it? I'm kind of sceptical about this. A "mature" ( with many many years of development in it) c++-compiler does a huge amount of optimization while compiling. So the task is not just to convert some script language into...

This almost got me.

Re: Monday, February 6, 2017

I had a thought reading this update, so, just to add some noise... :ghost: How much fps is actually needed for debugging? I mean, how about this: 1. Write a feature-complete version in Lua or in some other scripting language. 2. Bring all them nasty bugs down at 10 fps. 3. "Translate" all the Lua st...

Re: The General Unhappiness Thread

He's asked me not to reveal anything else. Why? I rather agree with him. It's his project, not mine. He should be the one telling you guys stuff, not me. :) Unless I was the "official" community manager, of course - but right now I'm only his unofficial one until he says otherwise. Plus, I don't kn...

Re: The General Unhappiness Megathread

Glad to have been proven wrong. A post that he *may or may not* show up and *may or may not* post information and *may or may not* pursue a continuing dialogue by a mod vouching for him to do these things he hasn't done yet constitutes proof for you? The delusion is strong here. In the correct thre...

Re: Self-Stablizing Economies

EG: how do we make it stabilze itself without going out of whack, or reverting to hacks. I would think of 4 points: 1. Product production = (potential) product consumption in a given amount of time. This applies to every product on a global scale. Of course, in a real world economy this would not b...

Re: The Religion Thread

Yeah, except the rules were clearly stated, and you have broken them, as have I and everyone else. We are ALL under the penalty. Belief in the son of God is what gets you off the hook. Go ahead and ignore it if you want, it's your life to lose or save. That's the truth. Wich also means, that when a...
