Looks like this to me, mods are free and should be free BUT you should have the option of having a DONATE button you can click on if you so choose to otherwise if the mods required $ it's no longer a mod but DLC.

I do not see why he wouldn't go multiple routes, steam, gog, gamersgate etc, that would allow more exposure no?

I am not a big fan of games where I need to install a client to run the client so to speak which is why I avoid steam etc. It just gets silly at some point, steam, glyph etc etc :D I will be happy to download from anywhere that does not require me to add their own little "client" to launch the game ...
