Re: LT update anticipation thread

My level of anticipation is probably far less than many. Limit theory has to be the most ambitious one man project I have ever seen. With every update video I watch and, with every devlog I read my respect for Mr. Parnell's project only continues to grow. I really don't care how long it takes him to...

Re: The Dev logs, Missions: Exclusivity and Revenge

I have thought about this as well, and I think there's definitely still room for an 'exclusivity' mechanism. You're right, if you're going to embark on a huge siege against a station in hopes of getting millions in payout, you don't want to find that, by the time the siege is almost over, the pool ...

The Dev logs, Missions: Exclusivity and Revenge

I just read the dev logs and was stuck by what I consider a slight abnormality in the concept. That being exclusivity. I am not going to say that I don't like the mission system Josh has worked on but, I will say that it is going to feel weird to not be able to acquire exclusive rights to a project....

Re: Those Blasted Constants

First, Heyas all! I have been lurking these forums since I heard about LT a couple months ago (about a week after the Kickstarter finished :? ). I love this topic, and wanted to jump in with a thought about the Variable Constant concept mentioned earlier in this thread which does exist in reality*....

Re: Those Blasted Constants

I think Katorone is hitting close to the place where you start. The temporal aspect. Every action in the universe takes time and, every tick of the universal clock is the same. So, you don't need to know how much energy an action takes to complete you just need to know how much that energy can chang...

Re: Conical scan won't cut it for large scale RTS battles.

Thanks Ice for posting that. I didn't realize there was a parallel thread on basically the same topic. Anyway, I am getting off my soap box. I understand Josh is doing this all on his own, and I think everything he is doing is great. After all, it is just a space game simulation and besides science ...

Re: Limit Theory: A 4X Game By Any Other Name?

I can go the solo route of a smuggler easy enough but, the temptation to dominate the galaxy will eventually fall into my sights. Honestly, I think most players will start out doing the typical space trading game but, in the end when you are sitting on a pile of credits .. its going to get a little ...

Re: Conical scan won't cut it for large scale RTS battles.

I am going to hit this topic just one more time. I appologize for lack of clarity previously but, I have made some false assumptions and, I have not made it clear how the conical scan can be improved. First, we need to set some clear understandings about scanning. There seems to be some misconcepion...

Re: Conical scan won't cut it for large scale RTS battles.

OK, so it's established that the scanner from the update is for actively scanning unknowns. The scanner that will be used during battles will be more like a radar and, similiar to what we might have seen in previous space sims. I guess my real point here is: How does the 'battle' scanner get it's da...

Re: Conical scan won't cut it for large scale RTS battles.

What the current scanner interface lacks the means to provide the user with decent situational awareness. It is still early yet, so maybe we just don't have all the information. Perhaps, the scanner interface we saw in the update is just for detail scanning and, the battle scanner interface that pro...
